At the Trent School of Education, I am part of the teaching team for the courses Sociocultural Perspectives in Human Development and Supporting Literacies and Learners with Special Needs. My approach to teaching is that all students start with the knowledge they bring, but then learn best when asking questions and solving problems that challenge them in new directions.
I am passionate about social justice in education, and ground teaching and learning in pedagogical theory, as well as theories of diversity, equity, and anti-oppression. My sources for inspiration include thinkers and writers of all kinds, the great teachers I've had, and my students who always drive my teaching and research in exciting directions. Fun fact about myself: in addition to my teaching, I am a Rabbi in the Secular Humanistic Jewish movement.
