Shelley Tanaka, 2019-20 Ashley Fellow Lecture

Traill College, Trent Durham-GTA, the Department of English Literature, the Child and Youth Studies Program (Durham) and the English MA in Public Texts welcome Shelley Tanaka as the 2019-20 Ashley Fellow. Shelley will be visiting classes, holding office hours for individual consultations with students and giving a public lecture, “Children’s Books as ‘Windows and Mirrors’: Stories from the Publishing Trenches.” This is the first time that the Ashley Fellow will have a presence in both Durham and Peterborough.
Award-winning author, fiction editor of children’s and YA books, translator and educator Shelley Tanaka will be taking up week-long residencies at Trent Durham-GTA (October 7-11) and Traill College (January 27-31) with public lectures scheduled in each place (October 9 in Durham; January 29 in Peterborough at Traill).
