Examining Employee Engagement Wins Trent Durham Prof High Praise
Dr. Amina Malik, Business professor at Trent University Durham GTA, has once again been recognized for her innovative research. Recently, her research paper “Are talented employees always engaged: The role of Employee Attributions” won the Best Paper Award for the HR Division of ASAC (Administrative Sciences Association of Canada). The award will be presented on May 29 at the 2018 ASAC Conference.
“I do research on several topics related to human resource management. I find this broader focus helps me in the classroom when I teach HRM and related courses,” said Professor Malik. “This approach actively provokes student learning, i.e., students learn not only the theoretical knowledge but also how things work in real life organizations. Learning from professors who do quality research as well as emphasize academic excellence provides confidence to students that they are getting the best, transformative education in the world, leading to successful careers ahead.”
Prof. Malik’s award-winning paper examines the impact of talent identification on employee well-being, and suggests that practitioners should not assume that the availability of more resources always lead to increased engagement levels among talented employees.
