More than just Chickenscratch: Students Create Annual Writing Anthology
For many people, having someone else read your writing is a very personal experience. The Trent University student contributors of Chickenscratch took things a step further and read their work aloud to a crowd at dual on-campus launch events in Peterborough and Durham on April 5.
The book is a compilation of student writing that includes works of poetry, creative non-fiction, and fiction. The record number of submissions this year shows the phenomenal growth of creative writing at Trent University.
“Students are very creative and what they choose to do outside the classroom is proof of that creativity. They are writing poetry, music, novels, plays, blogs, etc.” said Dr. Concetta Principe, assistant professor of English at Trent University Durham GTA. “By running creative writing courses, and other kinds of classes that are project-based, Trent gives students the ideal learning environment to grow and even more than that--to flourish.”
