Research Day Inspires Trent Durham Students to Explore Opportunities
Ever wonder what professors do while not in class? At this year’s Research Day held at Trent University Durham GTA on March 22, all were welcome to sneak a peek at fascinating research conducted by faculty and students from many disciplines across the Trent Durham campus. For any student searching for tangible experience, course credits, an advantage going into graduate school or even adventure—Research Day could prove to be life-altering.
“Students can get a better idea of where they may want to go with their classroom-based learning and of the opportunities and possibilities that exist.” states Dr. Brenda Smith-Chant, professor of Psychology and a presenter at the event.
Community capstone projects, childhood concussions and the impact of social media on hiring practices, were some of the many other topics up for discussion.
“There is a great opportunity for inter-departmental and inter-collegial collaboration.” said Dr. Helen Haines, senior lecturer of the Department of Anthropology and event co-organizer. “I hope the students came away with ideas about future senior thesis projects, volunteer projects or work-study projects.”
