Journalism and Creative Writing (B.A. Honours)
Develop career-based skills in journalism, social media and content creation with the new integrated degree/diploma program from Trent University Durham-GTA and Durham College.
Media is a constantly evolving and competitive industry, driving many students to take a practical college diploma after they receive their degree. This can easily add two or more years to your education, delaying your career and costing you more in tuition and fees.
Because of the demand for graduates to have both practical experience in media production as well as highly developed critical thinking and writing skills, Trent University Durham-GTA and Durham College have collaborated to create a new integrated degree and diploma. As a student of the Journalism and Creative Writing program, you’ll experience the best of both worlds and achieve a college diploma and university degree — all in just four years.
A fully integrated program, you’ll enjoy courses at both Trent University Durham-GTA and Durham College each year (the campuses are only 15 minutes apart by car, 25 minutes by transit). Throughout your degree/diploma, you’ll refine your writing, social media and content creation skills, putting your abilities into practice through a variety of hands-on learning and work placements. Upon graduation, you’ll achieve your degree in Media Studies (with an Option in Creative Writing) and a Diploma in Journalism-Mass Media. You’ll also develop the practical skills and experience necessary to launch an exciting career in broadcasting and journalism.
