Financial Analytics (Post-Graduate Certificate)

The Postgraduate Certificate in Financial Analytics is available to students who hold an undergraduate degree from any accredited university. This program will help equip students with the economic reasoning and computational tools to tackle leading-edge problems in the world of investments and financial markets.

 

Admissions Requirements

Entry Term: September 2023,  September 2024, Trent University Durham campus only 

Duration - full time studies only

Program Completion Requirements: Completion of 4.0 credits as specified

No transfer credits awarded.

Course Requirements

The Certificate program consists of the following 4.0 credits: 

– 1.5 ECON credits consisting of ECON 1010H, 1020H, and 3020H 

– 1.0 MATH credit consisting of MATH 1051H and 1052H 

– 1.5 ECON-MATH credits consisting of FINA 4101H, 4102H, and 4103H 

– A minimum cumulative average of 65% is required to complete the certificate

Breakdown of courses by term

Full time students are to follow the schedule of courses by term as outlined below. We cannot guarantee course availability if students do not follow the recommended course sequencing. Students who fail to adhere to the recommended schedule may not be able to complete their certificate program within the scheduled number of terms and students may have to return to complete an additional term.

  • MATH 1051H Non-Calculus Statistics I
  • FINA 4101H Options and Futures
  • FINA 4102H Portfolio and Risk Management

Term 2 January 

  • ECON 1020H Macro-Economics
  • MATH 1052H Non-Calculus Statistics II
  • ECON 3020H Financial Economics
  • FINA 4103H Financial Econometrics
