Preparing for In-Person Return January 31
Thank you for your perseverance in adapting to remote learning during these first few weeks of the winter term. I have heard from many students that they are eager to get back to in-person learning. I’m happy to share a brief message to assure you of our plans, and ten things you need to know and think about:
- First and most importantly, Trent is committed to a return to in-person learning January 31, 2022. You can be certain that we are prioritizing your health and safety and the quality of your Trent student experience.
- We are encouraging everyone to get your booster if possible before you return to campus. Watch for more details about an upcoming vaccination clinic on campus. Appointments can be booked through Ontario’s online booking portal, phoning a pharmacy, or through your local public health unit. If you already have your third booster dose, you can update your vaccine profile on myTrent. Just click the “this is a booster dose” box.
- Wear a medical mask or triple layer mask. If you forget yours, you can pick one up at your college or convenient student hubs located on both campuses.
- Do your daily screening and, please, stay home if you are sick. Your professors will tell you how to make arrangements to keep up with your studies.
- Don’t forget your vaccine certificate (QR code) when accessing the Trent Athletics Centre (reopening January 31). Proof of vaccination is also required to dine on campus – starting Monday, dining halls on campus will reopen following provincial guidelines.
- Learn what you should do in different COVID scenarios by reviewing our updated COVID Case Expectations protocols for students.
- Follow physical distancing and capacity limits where in place on campus in non-instructional spaces. Be sure to reduce close contacts and always practice good hand hygiene. We are ready for your return with improved air filtering and ventilation, as well as robust cleaning protocols.
- Student Affairs and your College principals will be here to connect you with wrap-around supports and services as you adapt to studying and socializing safely on and off campus.
- Convocation 2022 will be held in-person this spring. More details for graduating students will be shared soon.
- Trent and our entire community are looking forward to seeing you and returning to the safe and vibrant campus life we all value at Trent. Let’s take care to protect ourselves and one another.
While you await our full return, I encourage you to explore our new Staying Connected While Studying Online webpage to connect with online resources and activities through the Colleges, Athletics Centre, Bata Library, and several other campus resource groups. You can also access academic skills resources, learn more about on-campus study spaces, and register for activities and events.
As always, the University continues to monitor COVID-19 and will adapt our plans if needed. Please continue to check your Trent email and the Trent Forward site for updates. You can also contact Student Affairs or your college office if you need assistance with anything.
Stay well and see you on campus next week!
