Gowns & Hoods
Year Round for Photos - Update April 2020
Unfortunately, Grad Gown rentals cannot be offered until campus reopens, which will not be before April 30, 2020 (and potentially later than that).
If you want to submit a request for a date this summer, please do so using the request forms found on MyTrent>Services Tab>Campus Events. Conference Services will keep it on file and confirm once a date for opening campus is set. Rest assured, once your MyTrent account transitions to Alumni status, you will still have access to these forms, and can arrange for a photo session on your next visit to Peterborough.
Regularly, gown and hoods are available to rent year round from conference services. There is a small fee of $25 for a gown and hood that goes to cover the cost of maintaining the regalia. The form can be found on your myTrent, on the ‘Services’ tab, under ‘Campus Events’. Conferences can be reached at email@example.com or (705) 748-1260.
Day of Your Ceremony
When you arrive you will have to show your student card to check in.
If you don’t have it then show government photo ID. No pockets? There are adhesive wallets available for you to attach it to your phone or it can be stored in the gown room for the ceremony.
Keep your student card – it’s now your Alumni card and gives you access to benefits and services. Check trentu.ca/alumni for details.
Academic regalia has a rich history of tradition and significance that Trent University wishes to honour. The gowns and hoods that you will wear acknowledges the degree that you have earned and will be receiving.
Students do not have to rent gowns and hoods for the ceremony - they are provided free of charge. Please come to the gowning room 1 1/2 hours before your ceremony to pick up your gown and hood and then proceed to Marshalling.
Due to limited space only students are permitted in the student gowning area - all guests are asked to proceed to the ceremony.
Trent's student gowns are not closed in the front - they are worn open. Please keep this in mind when choosing your attire for the ceremony.
Convocation ceremonies are public events that are recorded in various ways including webcast, video and photography. The ceremonies will be live streamed on trentu.ca during Convocation and will be available to view after Convocation for the benefit of friends and family who are unable to attend in person. These images and recordings may be used for official purposes, such as promoting Trent University. If you have any questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
