Accessible parking is provided in the lot closest to the Convocation ceremonies in front of Bata Library. Please identify yourself to the parking attendant(s). If you require mobility assistance devices such as a cane, walker or wheelchair, we highly recommend you bring it with you to convocation. We also highly recommend that guests who experience mobility difficulties be dropped off at in front of Bata Library and then the driver go park the vehicle.
If that parking area fills up a shuttle service is provided from another lot to the ceremony. We highly recommend that guests with mobility difficulties be dropped off in front of Bata Library and then the driver go park the vehicle.
Accessible Guest Seating
Ushers in blue vests will be available at the parking/main entrance to the University Court ceremony site next to Bata Library to assist guests.
The general seating area is up 23 steps. If guests can use the steps, the ushers can assist them in getting to this area.
Accessible seating is on the bridge level of the University Court. You can get to it through the elevator in Champlain College (entrance by the Bookstore).
A limited supply of wheelchairs will be available to assist guests to accessible seating.
Accessible seating has tent coverage so the elderly, children, expectant mothers, or anyone that requires shelter from the sun can also ask to sit in that area. If it is very busy, family members accompanying accessible guests may be limited.
There is also small area on the general seating level that provides shelter from the sun. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis.
Ceremonies are also broadcast in air-conditioned rooms in Champlain College Lecture Hall 307, and 3 classrooms in Lady Eaton College. These rooms are accessible.
There is a sign language interpreter at every ceremony. If you or your guests need to be close to the sign language interpreter please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 705-748-1011 ext. 6162.
Convocation ceremonies are public events that are recorded in various ways including webcast, video and photography. The ceremonies will be live streamed on trentu.ca during Convocation and will be available to view after Convocation for the benefit of friends and family who are unable to attend in person. These images and recordings may be used for official purposes, such as promoting Trent University. If you have any questions, please contact email@example.com.
