Format

Trent University’s Continuing Education program offers a diverse range of not-for-credit courses and workshops for adult learners which accommodate a 9-5 work schedule. Our courses and workshops are presently taking place exclusively online via Zoom.

Our seminar-style courses encourage interactive learning and discussion, running either 6 or 8 weeks in duration. These courses are specially designed to be individual classes with an overarching theme or narrative which brings them together into a course. These 2-hour classes are offered weekly on weeknights from 7pm to 9pm.

Our weekend workshops take half-day, 1-day or 2-day formats and offer interactive opportunities to learn a new skill or develop existing ones. These workshops occur on various weekends throughout the term.

The program offers 3 terms each year which are 8 to 10 weeks in duration.

  • Fall – Mid-October to early December
  • Winter – Mid-March to early May
  • Summer – Mid-June to early August

Registrations opens 2 weeks prior to the start date for the course. Register online via Corsizio by clicking on the linked course and workshop titles.

Technology Requirements

In order to participate fully in our online courses and workshops, you will require a webcam, microphone and speakers or a device with these items integrated (i.e. tablet, laptop computer or smartphone) as well as a reliable internet connection.

Cancellation Policy

Trent University’s Continuing Education program reserves the right to cancel courses with short notice due to low enrollment. Our courses and workshops require 6 or more participants in order to run. In the event of a cancellation due to low enrollment, you will be given at least 24-hours’ notice. We will reach out to you at the phone number and email address provided. At this time, you may elect to transfer your registration to another course of interest or request a refund.

Trent University’s Continuing Education program also reserves the right to cancel courses at short notice due to concerns regarding poor weather and travel conditions and/or instructor illness. In these instances, we will provide you with as much notice as possible and we will reach out to you at the phone number and email address provided. In the event that such a cancellation occurs, we will attempt to re-schedule the class either by extending the term or finding an alternate date that is convenient for both the instructor and a majority of the students enrolled in the class. In the event that we are unable to find a mutually agreeable time, a refund will be issued for the missed class.

Refunds

Refunds will be issued in the same method of payment received or by cheque to the mailing address provided at the time of registration. Please allow up to four weeks for refunds to be processed.

Refunds of course fees only of will be provided under the following circumstances:

  • A course has been cancelled due to low enrollment
  • A class has been cancelled by the Continuing Education program due to weather, travel concerns or instructor illness and a suitable time to reschedule the class is unable to be established.
  • In the event that you find you are not enjoying your course; we would be happy to help you select an alternate course or provide a refund for the balance of classes not attended, less any registration fees.

We do not provide refunds for missed classes.

Should you desire a refund and the reason is not encapsulated in the circumstances outlined above, please do not hesitate to reach out to traill@trentu.ca to discuss your extenuating circumstances. Refunds or credits may be granted on a case by case basis.

Questions or Concerns

Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to the Continuing Education Program directly at traill@trentu.ca or to Program Director Dr. Michael Eamon at michaeleamon@trentu.ca. We would be happy to help.
