HOLD UP. WHAT IS ORIENTATION WEEK?
Orientation Week runs the first week of September prior to classes beginning. The week consists of events that will help you become familiar with your individual college, Trent University Campus and the city of Peterborough. There will also be a variety of activities in which you will be given the opportunity to meet other lucky students like you!
SWEET, BUT WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN ORIENTATION WEEK?
Orientation is for any new incoming Trent University student. This includes Residence students, Off-Campus students, International students, Mature students, Transfer students, and every other type of student you can name! If you are an incoming student to Trent University, this week is for you! Orientation Week is "Challenge by Choice" so remember you get to decide how little or how much you want to participate in, but take advantage of the opportunity and get involved as much as you're comfortable with!
OK COOL, BUT WHO RUNS ORIENTATION WEEK?
With the help of Trent University staff, Orientation Week is run by upper year student staff and leaders! A team of Orientation Facilitators, along with College Transitions Staff and Summer College Ambassadors has been working very hard to pull together some amazing Orientation Week events!
The College Orientation Facilitators have assembled an amazing team of Orientation Week Leaders who are volunteers that are here for YOU! The O-week leaders can do a bunch of great things including answer your questions, show you around campus, and help you meet new people. Orientation is only here for the week but our leaders are here for you the entire year. We are there whether you need help you finding your class or just a smiling familiar face.
Of course, Orientation could not be possible without the Residence Life Dons. The Dons (also known as Residence Advisers at other Universities) are upper year students who live in the residences. They will also be watching out for you during Orientation Week and are here for you all year long, if you are living in residence!
AWESOME, DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
The events will most likely have things provided, but keep in mind that Gzowski College's colours are red and yellow so whenever we have the opportunity to show off our colours, we do! There is usually a varsity game that all colleges attend in order to cheer on our very own Trent athletes so make sure you bring some green and white gear to show your support for our wonderful school.This may look slightly different for 2021 but it's great to be prepared!
