I am so happy to welcome you to Lady Eaton College. This is an exceptional year and Lady Eaton College is an exceptional community. At Lady Eaton College we are all about coming together to have fun, support one another, and create something special in our community, even if we can’t always be in the same room!
At LEC, we will meet you where you are, whether that is on campus or living at home across the city, the country, or the world. Our office will be available to you virtually to help you navigate your first year at Trent, book an appointment to plan your courses or help you manage your time or refer you to one of our many campus resources. For students and visitors on campus we have partnered with Trent University Housing and the West Bank Service Center to ensure that students and visitors alike can get directions, learn how to contact the college, and pick up resources on our supports and services from 8am to 8pm Monday – Friday beginning in September.
All students will have access to our supports and services including Academic Advising with Melanie and Academic Skills with Dana. Melanie will continue to be available virtually for academic advising appointments and same day drop in, and Dana will be available for both online and phone academic skills appointments. On campus students will be able to access small group academic advising workshops through their dons, including our four Living Learning Communities and academic skills support will be provided in many of our on-campus courses. Students will also get support in many online classes from our new Online Learning Student Assistants.
If you are looking to explore all the college has to offer you can contact our virtual office by phone, email or through Zoom or swing by the Lady Eaton College Office (EC 119) and chat with any of our helpful college student staff who can’t wait to meet you. You will also be able to purchase some of our great college swag and learn more about all our exciting programming too.
Speaking of programming… there will be so much to do whether you are on campus or participating in our community remotely. LEC is more than 50 years old so we have lots of tradition, but this year it will be Tradition with a Twist! Orientation events, Paint Night w/TVAN, Fall College Weekend, and the Haunted Drumlin and Escape Room will all get a virtual twist, and our on-campus students can participate too! It won’t just be the same old Fall because LEC will start some new traditions too with our speaker series on the Art and Science of Health and Healing and LEC goes to Art School with Pottery Toad Houses @ Home. Lady Eaton Cooks will feature an LEC cookbook and cooking demo and we will have lots of outdoor fun with Distanced Drumlin Hikes and PETA friendly hunting excursions (with your camera!)
We haven’t forgotten about winter! Featuring more traditions like our Celebration of Excellence, our Annual Lady Eaton Art Auction and Photo Contest, Winter College Weekend including a Winter Carnival, movie night and fingers crossed our second annual Cocoa and Cocktails! March brings International Women’s Day and our 5th Annual Marjory Seely Women in Leadership Event. The theme this year is Women and Health. We will wrap up the Winter term with the oh so secret LEC Toad Hunt and a celebration of our soon to be graduating students.
Learning together, Empowering each other, Creating community – that is Lady Eaton College, and it is going to be an amazing year.
