What is Re-Orientation?
Wondering what you’ve missed and planning your return to campus? Need some reminders on the help and supports available? Re-Orientation provides an opportunity for you to access programming and experiences you may have missed due to the unique circumstances of the pandemic. Here, you’ll find college-specific and university-wide resources and events, including social events, workshops, introductions to Trent services and supports, and even some help with finding your way around campus. All upper-year/returning students are welcome to attend Re-Orientation events!

Building a Consent Culture on Campus

Trent Athletics Rise and Shine program (during Orientation Week)*

Trent Athletic Centre - Ask us Anything (in-person drop-in)
Students will have an opportunity to ask questions about the Athletic Centre. This will take place just outside the Athletic Centre, in conjunction with other O-Week activities taking place at the Justin Chiu Stadium.

Do you identify with a marginalized group? If so, your transition into university may come with some unique challenges. Bravespace is here to provide you with a fun, interactive, and inclusive dialogue and a connection to relevant resources on campus. Come with a friend or make a new one here! Sessions include People of Colour, Indigenous, LGBTQ2S+, Mental Health, and Accessibility.

Mock Lecture *
Not sure what to expect from a university lecture? We will be tuning in to a lecture by Professor Kate Norlock from the Department of Philosophy. Professor Norlock will share a "mock" lecture, some tips and tricks for note-taking, and ideas for how you can engage with an online lecture! We will also have some Trent U Teaching Assistants on hand to take you through what to expect from a seminar or workshop. Join us and kickstart your first year at Trent. Time Management 101 *
Learning how to manage one's time is something every student needs to do. It can be intimidating to try and organize course codes with social activities, navigate a new campus, all while being expected to manage countless assignments and submit them on time. This event is designed to ease some of the anxiety associated with managing your time at university. It will focus solely on time management and will be facilitated by upper-year Online Learning Student Assistants (OLSAs) and academic skills instructors. You will gain some great time management tips and meet our academic skills instructors. Asking for help is key to your success!

Grand opening of the Freedom Lounge
The Freedom Lounge is a new space for BIPOC and Racialized students on campus. This lounge is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Masks are mandatory inside and all COVID-19 protocols must be followed.
No registration is necessary, all are welcome. Cultural attire/dress is encouraged! Catering from various Nogojiwanong restaurants will be available.

TCSA Welcome Home BBQ
This charity BBQ event is for students of all years. Burgers will be available for purchase along with a side and a drink ($3). All proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Discover Peterborough Bingo
Trent University has partnered with the Peterborough & the Kawartha Economic Development and the Downtown Business Improvement Area to bring you an exclusive scavenger hunt designed to encourage students to discover the best of campus life and the downtown. Through the game, students will be encouraged to visit downtown businesses and campus locations ranging from the Bata Library to the Trent Athletics Centre. As they explore, students will complete activities outlined on the card, such as playing a round of pool, conquering a local escape room or learning fun facts about the colleges at Trent. Once two rows are completed, students will be entered in a draw to win one of ten prize packs, which include a $200 Downtown Boro gift card as well as prizes from Trent University, PKED and local businesses.

Supports in your College office
Academic advisors are located in each of the Colleges. They help you understand university-level degree requirements and your departmental requirements across any/all academic disciplines. They also help you understand university rules and academic standing and guide you with the completion and submission of university petitions.
Academic Advising is offering same-day appointments between September 7th – 17th. To book an appointment, call your College Office on the day you wish to have your appointment.
Academic skills instructors are located in each of the Colleges. They offer online resources, workshops, and individual appointments to support your efforts to improve and refine your skills for success at university. The College office is open and staff is available to help you find your way around, join an event, or even purchase some swag to show your collegiate pride! An opportunity for students living off-campus to gather and collect information about orientation week. We will introduce you to the off-campus hub where you can store your things during the programming hours each day, learn about food on campus and where you can take breaks between class. 10am-11am - College Welcome Leader Introductions
Principal, Cabinet President, and Orientation Facilitators welcome you to learn more about our college, the traditional Tree Planting Ceremony, Introductions to the Orientation Leaders and their o-week groups to each other.

College Scavenger Hunt
Have you been studying online for the past year, and need a bit of help getting re-acquainted with our campus?
In-Person Campus Tours
You can take a guided in-person tour of campus, on a tour set up just for returning students! The tours will start in front of the Trent Student Centre. These tours are designed for returning students to have a brief refresher on how to navigate the Peterborough campus.
Participants must wear a face mask at all time while on the tour. Remember to complete the Covid-19 screening tool prior to coming on campus which can be found here on your MyTrent portal.
