From Arabic to Hebrew, beekeeping to karate, Trent University’s continuing education program is once again offering the Peterborough community a wide-variety of dynamic classes and workshops to take part in this fall.

“The Peterborough community has been such a strong supporter of Trent over the years, it is important for us to give back and offer a wide selection of flexible and affordable continuing education courses,” said Dr. Michael Eamon, director of Continuing Education at Trent University. “I am excited that we have great community partners such as the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra and Public Energy offering exciting new classes this Fall.”

With classes starting October 16, continuing education at Trent will provide community members the opportunity to pursue their interests, or gain a new skill through its pick-and-learn format, allowing the option to either register for single classes, or take full six or eight-week courses.

New to the Continuing Education program this year are two courses being offered in partnership with the Peterborough Symphony and Public Energy. Michael Newnham, conductor of the Peterborough Symphony, will be leading a course entitled, History of the Orchestra: Eight Composers in Eight Weeks. While Public Energy will be offering Inside Contemporary Performance, a new course dedicated to exploring various genres of performance.

This fall, Continuing Education will be offering over 120 adult evening classes covering topics ranging from languages, literature and writing, science and nature, and movies, music and movement. The program will also offer a number of one-day workshops, including sessions on soap making, wildlife and ecotravel photography, backyard chickens, plus two new workshops on essential oils.

Registration for all classes and courses is now open. To select and pay for classes or to get information on the learning opportunities that are available, visit the Trent’s Continuing Education website.

Classes are held evenings, Monday through Friday, at Trent University’s Traill College located on London Street. Each class is two hours in length, beginning at 7:00 p.m., and costs only $20 per class (some exceptions apply). Community members are invited to register before October 13 for the chance to be entered to win a Trent University gift bag.
