Trent Summer Work Experience Program
Hire a Student This Summer: New Funding Available for Trent Departments
Trent Summer Work Experience Program (TSWEP) will fund 100+ full-time positions for students this summer.
A message from Careerspace and the Office of the Registrar
Recognizing the changing and challenging employment landscape for students as a result of COVID-19, Careerspace and the Office of the Registrar have launched a new joint initiative to help undergraduate and graduate students build their career skills at Trent University through paid employment opportunities.
From May to August 2022, TSWEP will cover the full cost of student salaries for approved summer positions with Trent departments and faculty.
Eligibility of positions proposed for funding will be determined on a first-come, first-serve basis, and based on the following criteria:
- Position is full-time (up to 35 hours per week), however part-time positions may be considered;
- Position can be done remotely, at least to start;
- Position is active until August 31, 2022, however positions of shorter duration will be considered if funding permits.
Positions may be task, project, or research-based, depending on the needs of the department or faculty member. Funding will be considered for new positions and existing summer positions for which an eligible student has already been hired.
To be eligible for funding through TSWEP, students must be full-time or part-time domestic undergraduate and graduate students who are returning full-time to Trent for the 2022-23 academic year, and have demonstrated financial need in the 2022 winter term (were TWSP eligible/in receipt of OSAP). Students do not have to be registered in summer courses to be eligible.
Faculty or departments interested in applying for funded positions through TSWEP can do so through myTrent by going to: Support > Careerspace > TSWEP – Trent Summer Work Experience Program
Careerspace will review and approve each request for funded positions. Once approved, Careerspace will coordinate the posting of new positions to the Student Job Board and all applications and proof of eligibility will be submitted through Orbis and sent to the hiring manager when the posting closes, more detail on that process will be shared once positions are approved.
