Workout Zones

Workout Zones have been created to allow Trent students to reserve a workout in advance through Legend online booking system. This will allow a limited number of individuals to reserve a specified one-hour workout appointment. No walk-ins will be permitted at this time.

Each Workout Zone will be designed by relocating pieces of fitness equipment normally located in the Sport Centre and distributing them to other rooms, including the gymnasium, mezzanine (2nd floor), Fitness Studio 1, and Fitness Studio 2. 

Each Workout Zone will provide each person with 4 square metres of personal space. All fitness equipment will be spaced at least two metres apart, and where it is not possible to move equipment that is closer than two metres apart, the equipment will be closed to use or plexi-glass barriers may be installed. 

As part of the online booking process, students will have the option to select a specific Workout Zone of their choice, according to availability. A full description of the equipment available in each workout zone will be posted on the Trent Athletics website. (Example: Zone #1 – a treadmill plus 5, 10, 15, and 20 lb. free weights; Zone #2 – elliptical plus 10, 15, 20 lb. free weights).

The workout appointment schedule will include a 30-minute time period between appointments to allow for the transition of people to and from the Athletics Centre and for the clean and disinfecting of the facility and equipment.

All workout areas will have specific pathways for entering and exiting spaces, using floor or wall signage.  Students will be asked to move uniformly through the workout areas to reduce random movement on the floor.

The sharing of equipment or movement into another individual’s workout zone is not permitted.

Athletics Centre part-time student staff will be assigned to monitor workout rooms and will be required to practice physical distancing and answer any questions you may have.

 

The following provides an overview of the new workout zones found throughout the Athletics Centre:

Fitness Studio 1 (FS1)

There will be 7 workout zones within the FS1 workout zone. The zones will feature the following pieces of equipment:

Zone 1

  • Star Trac Bike
  • Body Bar 5lbs & 12lbs
  • Sets of 3lbs, 6lbs, 8lbs Dumbbells
  • Step

Zone 2

  • Star Trac Bike
  • Body Bar 5lbs & 12lbs
  • Sets of 2lbs, 3lbs, 6lbs, 8lbs Dumbbells
  • Step

Zone 4

  • Elliptical
  • Body Bar 5lbs & 12lbs
  • Sets of 3lbs, 8lbs, 12lbs Dumbbells
  • 6kg, 8kg, 12kg Kettlebells
  • Step

Zone 6

  • Elliptical
  • Body Bar 5lbs & 12lbs
  • Sets of 2lbs, 3lbs, 8lbs, 10lbs Dumbbells
  • 4kg, 8kg, 12kg Kettlebells
  • Step

Zone 7

  • Star Trac Bike
  • Body Bars 5lbs & 12lbs
  • Sets of 3lbs, 4lbs, 8lbs, 10lbs Dumbbells
  • Step

 

Fitness Studio 2 (FS2)

There will be five (5) workout zones within the FS2 workout zone. The zones will include the following pieces of equipment:

Zone 1

  • Spin bike and Erg Machine
  • Body Bars 9lbs & 16lbs
  • Set of 3lbs, 5lbs, 8lbs, 10lbs Dumbbells

Zone 2

  • Spin bike and Erg Machine
  • Body Bars 9lbs & 16lbs
  • Set of 3lbs, 5lbs, 10lbs Dumbbells

Zone 3

  • Spin bike and Erg Machine
  • Body Bars 14lbs & 16lbs
  • Set of 3lbs, 5lbs, 10lbs, 12lbs Dumbbells

Zone 4

  • Spin bike and Erg Machine
  • Body Bars 14lbs & 15lbs
  • Set of 3lbs, 5lbs, 8lbs, 10lbs Dumbbells

Zone 5

  • Spin bike and Erg Machine
  • Body Bars 14lbs & 15lbs
  • Set of 3lbs, 5lbs, 10lbs Dumbbells

 

Mezzanine (Mezz)

There will be 5 fitness zones in the Mezzanine Zone. These zones will have the following pieces of equipment in them:

Zone 1

  • Recumbent Bike
  • Body Bars 5lbs & 12lbs
  • Sets of 3lbs, 4lbs, 8lbs Dumbbells 

Zone  2

  • Elliptical
  • Body Bars 5lbs & 12lbs
  • Sets of 1lbs, 3lbs, 4lbs, 8lbs Dumbbells

Zone 3

  • Elliptical
  • Body Bars 12lbs & 16lbs
  • Sets of 2lbs, 5lbs, 8lbs Dumbbells

Zone 4

  • Elliptical
  • Body Bar 5lbs & 12lbs
  • Sets of 3lbs, 5lbs, 8lbs, 12lbs Dumbbells

 

Cardio Loft (Cardio)

The cardio loft will have 20 workout zones available for booking. These zones include:

  • 6 treadmills overlooking the river
  • 2 spin bikes
  • 6 treadmills overlooking the weight room
  • 4 elliptical machines

Students booking a workout in the cardio loft will also have communal access to the following pieces of equipment:

  • Cable machines
  • A rack of DBs ranging from 5lbs to 35lbs  
  • A rack of Medicine balls
  • Kettle Bells ranging from 5lbs to 40lbs
  • Pre loaded bar bells ranging from 20lbs to 100lbs

Students are asked to respect social distancing when using the communal areas and follow best practices for cleaning all pieces of equipment after every use. 

 

Weight Room

The weight room will be limited to 12 people working out at a time, and will include access to all machines and dumbbells, as well as 2 spin bikes available for warm ups and cardio workouts in this zone.
