Appointments Online

You can submit questions about academic or writing skills or submit a draft of your writing at any stage of the process, and an instructor will answer your questions and offer comments. Turnaround time is dependant on appointment availability.

Online Appointment Booking System
Sign in to the Student Experience Portal with your Trent username and password.
Click on “Book Appointments” in the left menu to get started.

Yes, you can book an online appointment before you've finished your assignment!
Upload a work-in-progress or assignment instructions. You can submit via email a more recent draft before 9am on the day of the appointment to your instructor.

Trent U Durham students can book an online appointment by phone (905-435-5100), email (oshawa@trentu.ca), or in-person (room 101 - Oshawa Campus); instructions for sending in your work will be provided once you have booked an appointment.

Math help is also available through online instruction. Learn more.

Send your question to the ASC Math Instructor at mathhelp@trentu.ca

Important Considerations:

  • Our instructors will answer your questions or offer suggestions on any of the following: structure, organization, argumentation, clear writing (grammar, style, spelling), documentation, referencing, narrowing a topic and thesis statements. We will read lab reports, essays, critical reviews and other pieces of writing. Please send assignment instructions with your work.

  • Help early on is often more effective than at the draft stage, so send in your preliminary thesis and/or an outline of your paper. Remember that questions about content should be directed to your course instructor.

  • Manage your time carefully: you will need time to read and apply suggestions before handing the assignment in. (See FAQs: I have an assignment due in two hours. Can you help me?)

  • Our goal is to help you improve the skills you need to independently edit and proofread your work.  We will read part of your paper, noting errors in grammar and style and explaining corrections. (See FAQs: Will you proofread my essay?)
