Canada has successfully participated in an increasingly integrated world trade and financial order since the end of WWII. Global integration may now be at an inflection point leaving Canada increasingly exposed. This talk traces the evolution of that order and Canada’s participation in it, and provide some thoughts on the outlook for that global order and the implications for Canadian economic policy in the 2020s.
