Current Interests: Age and life-course studies; sociology of the body; neoliberal health politics. 

Publications include Disciplining Old Age: Essays on the Formation of Gerontological Knowledge (University of Virginia Press, 1996); Cultural Aging: Life Course, Lifestyle and Senior Worlds (Broadview Press, 1995); journal articles and book chapters on critical gerontology, cultures of expertise and the risk society. Recently co-written articles with Professor Barbara Marshall on sexuality and aging have been published in Body & Society, Journal of Aging Studies and History of the Human Sciences.
