Current interests: the postmodernization of science fiction; intersections of subjectivity and technoscience; theories of performance, representation, and spectacle.
Publications include Edging into the Future: Science Fiction and Contemporary Cultural Transformation, co-editor (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2002); Blood Read: The Vampire as Metaphor in Contemporary Culture, co-editor (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1997); and essays on postmodernism and science fiction, feminism and queer theory, and apocalypticism in contemporary theatre. Co-editor of Science Fiction Studies and Vice-President (1998-2002) of the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts. Current projects include a co-edited collection of essays and interviews, Queer Universes: Sexualities in Science Fiction.
