Leadership in Faculty Teaching Awards
The Leadership in Faculty Teaching (LIFT) Awards were developed by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU) to recognize and encourage teaching excellence at colleges and universities in Ontario. The LIFT Awards are give to faculty who "influence, motivate and inspire students as wel as demonstrate leadership in teaching methods." Each winner receives a total of $20,000 over two years. During the inagural year, 100 faculty across Ontario's universities and colleges were recognized with this honour.
Lieutenant Governor's Award for Teaching Excellence
This award was created in 1993 by the Alliance for Ontario Universities with the approval of the Honourable Henry N.R. Jackman. The awards were given to university faculty members from across Ontario who were 1992-1993 recipients of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations’ Teaching Awards, 3M Canada’s Teaching Fellowships, and the Canadian Professor of the Year Award. Recipients were honoured with a sculpture and lapel pin. The award was only presented in 1993.
OCUFA Teaching Awards
The Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA) recognizes outstanding teachers and academic librarians in Ontario universities who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their respective disciplines.
