CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

CUPE 3908-1 Award for
Excellence in Teaching

The CUPE 3908-1 Award for Excellence in Teaching is presented to a member of the part-time faculty at Trent University, represented by CUPE Local 3908 - Unit 1. The award recognizes the positive impact contract instructors have on students and their learning. 

Eligible candidates include Course Instructors,Clinical Instructors, Academic Skills Centre Instructors, ESL Instructors, Tutorial and Workshop Leaders, Language Assistants, and Tutors.

  1. Download the nomination form.
  2. Complete the "Nominator Information" and the "Candidate Information" sections on the Nomination Form.
  3. Tell the story! Complete the "Candidate Qualifications" section by providing specific examples of how/why your candidate should be considered for the Award.
  4. Send the nomination form by e-mail to idc@trentu.ca no later than March 1, 2012.

Who may nominate?

Anyone internal to the Trent community who interacts with CUPE Unit 1 instructors may submit a nomination.

What is the award criteria?

The nomination form will ask you to answer the following question:

  • Present specific details about your experience with the candidate, providing clear examples that highlight the skills, abilities, and attributes of the candidate that demonstrate a postive impact on students and their learning.

What is the award and how is it determined?

The award has a value of $750. The presentation of the award is made each year the fall annual meeting of CUPE 3908, and is acknowledged at a teaching awards ceremony in April that is open to the university community. An individual may receive this award only once during his or her career. The recipient of this award is determined by the CUPE Teaching Award Committee.
