As a student on campus, you are a key part of the Trent community.
This is your home. We ask that you consider your energy and water consumption and make efforts to reduce and eliminate wasteful use. Turn your lights and computer off when you aren’t using them. Take a few minutes to have a meal with friends on a reusable plate rather than getting in the habit of ‘eating on the run’. If you do need your food on-the-go, make sure to use Trent's ecoTray program. Carry a travel mug or water bottle. Reduce waste as much as possible and be sure that any waste you do create is accepted in our recycling or composting program. Make a choice. All of these small things add up over your day, add up in your college and add up throughout the campus.
We are all at varying stages of making these types of changes. Some have been making changes for years, and some have become more aware as climate change becomes so prevalent in the media. Talk about it, learn from each other and work together. Learn about the programs on campus that can help you to reduce your impact on the environment. Volunteer to help with one of these programs. We have many programs including recycling, composting, green roofs, extensive natural areas and specialty recycling for electronics, batteries, printer cartridges, cell phones, coffee pods and more!
Every student experience is unique and will be enriched by becoming involved in the Trent community. Please click here to read one student account of her time at Trent and how it influenced her realization of the important role each person plays in taking care of our environment.
