Trent Volleyball Offseason Notes
It has been a summer of change here within the varsity volleyball program at Trent, and I along with head coach Pete Carter would like to take this opportunity to personally thank two individuals.

Trent Volleyball will be saying goodbye to two of our assistant coaches.  Brian Hayes and Mike Pluimers unfortunately, will not be returning in 2006-2007.  Pete, Mike, Brian and myself have coached together for the last 2 seasons.  However, we have all been friends for much longer.

Mike Pluimers joined Trent Volleyball 2 seasons ago.  He was a graduate of Fleming College where he played with current Trent coach Pete Carter.  Mike is a distinguished member of the OCAA Hall of Fame. Mike brought a wealth of knowledge and skill to the volleyball program at Trent.  Whether a coach, a buddy, or a roomate (in my case) he was always a person you wanted to have around your team.  Mike has moved to Toronto and has recently purchased a house in Toronto with his fiance Jennifer.  We wish Mike and Jenn all the best in the future and hope to see them regularly at alumni games in the future.

Where would we have been the past season without Brian Hayes.  Brian joined us 2 seasons ago in the role of team manager.  What a change a season can make.  I was away at Queen's for most of the season, and Mike was busy working on a business venture, Brian stepped in and took on the role of assistant coach.  Brian even took control of the team for a few weeks as coach Pete Carter took a leave of absence from the team.  Brian lead the Excalibur to victories over Sheridan and Fleming (his coaching record is better then Mike's...hehe).  Brian stepped up to the challenge and did a phenominal job.  Personally, I have known Brian since my second year at Trent (wayyy back in the day) and have worked with him for several years after, and I can say on behalf of both Pete and myself, we'll definitely miss you man.  Brian has moved back to Belleville to be closer to his fiance Angela, and is currently attending teachers college in Buffalo.  I know we'll see them at alumni games and in our cheering section when we travel to the hostile environment that is Loyalist.

Thanks again boys,
Pete and Adam
