Community Programs:

Tutoring

Tutors meet with their learner once a week for one hour from October to April (excluding exam periods and holidays) at the Peterborough Public Library.  Our volunteers focus on helping their learner improve literacy related skills in an effort to make reading and writing understandable as well as enjoyable. Tutoring takes place between 4pm and 8pm, Monday through Thursday at the Peterborough Public Library.  Tutoring times vary depending on learner and tutor availability.

Homework Club

Our volunteers meet with students
from October to April (excluding exam periods and holidays), at the Prince of Wales School to assist students with homework while working towards improving literacy based skills.

Community Reading Circle

Kids of all ages are entertained during the Reading Circles at both the Trent Child Care Centre and the Peterborough Family Resource Centre between October and April (excluding exam periods and holidays). Our volunteers lead and supervise activities at the circle to introduce children to the joys of reading.

Senior Reading Companions

Volunteers visit with longterm care residents at Riverview Manor to promote continued enjoyment of reading and other activities.  Residents and volunteers enjoy each others company on a weekly basis by sharing their experiences in a relaxed setting.  This provides both participants with a unique opportunity that is both educational and enriching.
