Profile

Feyzi Baban received his Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at Carleton University and an MA from the Department of Political Science at Bogazici University. Feyzi specializes in global and comparative politics with an emphasis on globalization theory and critical theories of international relations.  Feyzi's main teaching interests are International Relations Theory, Global Politics and Political Theory.  His areas of expertise are the Middle East and the European Union.  His current research interests include the impact of cosmopolitan theory on normative theories of international relations, the politics of citizenship in late modern societies, and alternative forms of modernity in non-Western cultures.  He is currently working on a research project investigating the impact of Turkey’s membership on how European identity is defined and the implications of this for the EU project.
