Terms of Reference

  • To review Trent University’s existing Strategic Plan (titled A Strategy for Trent University 2007-2014) and assess the need for updating and revising this Plan;
  • To review Trent’s Mission Statement and consider the need for its revision;
  • To implement a communication, outreach and engagement process to seek input into Trent’s mission and strategic plans;
  • To recommend a Mission Statement for Trent University, and a Strategic Plan through 2014;
  • To contribute information and recommendations to other activities that form part of the renewal of Trent University’s planning processes.

Preliminary Time Line and Activities
October-December 2009

  • Form any needed subgroups and identify liaison strategy with other activities
  • Obtain additional information as needed; prepare Working Group Reports
  • First draft outline of Strategic Directions

January-February 2010

  • Widespread circulation of first draft outline of Strategic Directions
  • Consultation and discussion with students, faculty, staff, alumni, community, partners, governing bodies

March 2010

  • Summarize all feedback received
  • Second draft Strategic Directions
  • Seek approvals/endorsements from governing bodies
  • Roll-out of Strategic Directions
