PREREQUISITES

related field.
-must have a working relationship with a public or private
institution or
-university involved in farming/forestry.
-accept the position of Research Assistant during his or her
program of study.
PhD students:
-must have a minimum of a Ms degree in in biology, agronomics,
forestry, natural resources or any
related subject; or an equivalent professional diploma
received from a recognized institution of higher
learning.
-are given preference if they are younger than 35 years of
age, who have university grade point averages,
at the Licenciatura and Masters level, higher than
85 % on a 100 % basis or higher than 3.2 on a 4.0.

Financial support is available to some Postgraduate students (from
member countries) by means of institutional grants, through an application
to the Center’s Director General.

Overview - The International Centre for Protected Landscapes is an independent organization that provides advice, training and consultancy services to governments and non-government agencies worldwide. Based at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth (UWA) and linked to the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences, it also has an expanding postgraduate taught course and research program.
ICPL's commitment is to build programs appropriate to the needs of professional colleagues with a concern for sustainable resource management.

The mission of the College is to provide protected area managers from Southern Africa with the motivation and relevant skills to manage their areas and associated wildlife populations sustainably and in co-operation with local communities. To achieve this aim, the College offers customised, modular, short and long term residential courses which cover environmental, conservation and natural resource management issues as well as community capacity building in the various disciplines. In promoting the sustainable use of biodiversity, the training courses cover the latest thinking in conservation principles and practices thereby facilitating the synergistic relationship required between people and parks.

Financial Support
A limited number of bursaries are available, and supervisors should submit motivations for candidates they nominate. Refund structures do apply but no refunds will be given if the College is notified of a cancellation 14 days or less before the start of a course.
Indemnity
All course participants will be required to sign an indemnity form on arrival at the College. It must also be noted that the College is located in a malaria area and that the necessary precautions should be taken.
