New Student Orientation

FAQs

Q: What is New Student Orientation?

A: New Student Orientation is a one-day event. During the course of the day, students will have the opportunity to attend a series of presentations and information sessions designed to prepare students for their arrival at Trent University. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to register for their courses, attend presentations on student life, meet with academic advisors, tour the campus, meet upper-year students, and find out about programs like Introductory Seminar Week, Bring it on!, and Impact.

For more information visit the Student Affairs website at www.trentu.ca/studentaffairs

Q: Do I need to attend an NSO day?

A: Students are strongly encouraged to attend a New Student Orientation day, as there will be a number of different activities to ensure your university experience gets off to the right start.

If you are unable to attend one of our NSO days, please contact our office and we can work with you to help accomodate you.

If you are a Nursing student or Concurrent Education student, you will attend a specific session arranged by your department. There is also a specific session for Transfer and Mature students.

Q: Who can attend an NSO day?

A: All incoming students to Trent University are invited and encouraged to attend a session. There will be designated New Student Orientation sessions intended to provide information specifically relevant to transfer students, mature students, Queens-Trent Concurrent Education students and Nursing students.

We understand that for certain individuals, such as out-of-province or international students, it may not be practical to attend a session. We will be sending information to these students by mail.

Q: How can I book my place for an NSO Session?

A: You can register online for a New Student Orientation day on the NSO website at www.trentu.ca/nso. For January Start NSO, please RSVP to Johanna Hart at johannahart@trentu.ca

Q: When are the NSO days?

A: When students register for New Student Orientation they will be assigned a day based on their application information. Ex. New students enrolled in the nursing program will be placed in the Nursing Orientation Day; Transfer students will be placed into the Transfer Student Day.

Please note: the last NSO session will be on the 20th of August 2011.
