Trent University Alumni Affairs Director Awarded Outstanding Achievement Award

Tony Storey recognized by the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education

Trent University Alumni Affairs director Tony Storey has been selected by the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) as the winner of the 2011 CCAE Outstanding Achievement Award, to be awarded during the upcoming CCAE Annual Conference in Québec City, Québec from June 4 to 7, 2011.

“It has been a privilege to work in Alumni Relations at Trent,” said Mr. Storey. “This award is shared with the many talented and loyal alumni and colleagues I have been so fortunate to know. I do hope that this honour will further secure our alumni's reputation as one of Canada's most involved and supportive."

Richard Morgan, director of portfolio operations and philanthropic research in External Relations and Advancement at Trent University, echoed the importance of the award: “Trent has been honoured by CCAE in the past for the quality and creativity of its work. This particular award goes a step further in recognizing the individual talent and leadership evident in the significant legacy of Tony Storey.”  

Tony Storey will retire in June, 2011 as the longest-serving director of Alumni Affairs at any university in Canada. Mr. Storey has nurtured alumni engagement at Trent over three decades through: over 400, 000 kilometres of travel to visit alumni in every corner of the country; more than 125 meetings of the Trent University Alumni Association Council; 27 alumni homecomings and convocations; his regular column, Storeyline, in Trent Magazine for 25 years; the introduction of the Alumni in Residence, Alumni Awards and the Annual Alumni Lecture; and the establishment of many alumni prizes, awards, scholarships and shows. 

CCAE is the association for educational advancement professionals working at universities, colleges, institutes, independent schools and cégeps across the country. The Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes a current or recent member who has made extraordinary contributions to the field of educational advancement over a number of years. The recipient is recognized both for exemplifying the highest ideals of the advancement profession and for dedicated mentoring of others in the field.
