Durham Community Invited to Enjoy A Taste of Trent

Trent University Oshawa Experience to be Showcased at
June 22 Event Featuring Spotlight Lectures and Information on New Thornton Road Campus

Friday, June 18, 2010, Oshawa

All residents of Oshawa and Durham Region, including current and future students and their families, are invited to attend “A Taste of Trent,” a special drop-in event providing an opportunity to mingle with esteemed Trent University Oshawa faculty and learn about the new Thornton Road Campus, on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery (72 Queen Street) in Oshawa.

Throughout the evening, representatives from the University will be on hand to answer questions about the new campus location, opening in September. In addition to providing information about the Trent University Oshawa experience, the event will also showcase a number of leading Trent faculty. Times and topics of their “spotlight” lectures are as follows:

Professor Margaret Steffler, English Literature
“Where the Wild Things Are”: Children’s Literature in the University Classroom

7:30 p.m.
Professor Roger Lohmann, Anthropology
Evidence for the Supernatural: An Anthropological Adventure

8 p.m.
Professor Teresa L. DeCicco, Psychology
Sex, Drugs, and Hidden Secrets: What Dreams Reveal

“A Taste of Trent” is open to the public and free to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
A Special Discount for Trent’s Neighbours
Trent University Oshawa is extending an exclusive offer to residents of Oshawa and Durham Region to join the Trent community as a student in 2010 at a reduced course rate. Any eligible student, who has been out of school for more than three years, will be able to take a course at 25% less than the usual price, a savings of over $350.
