Trent University’s Continuing Education Program Wins National Award for Creative Writing Certificate Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Canadian Association for University Continuing Education Recognizes Program Excellence

Wednesday, June 11, 2008, Peterborough

The Canadian Association for University Continuing Education (CAUCE) announced recently that Trent University’s Continuing Education program won the 2008 Program Award in the local/regional category for its Creative Writing Certificate.

“We are thrilled that Trent’s Creative Writing program has been recognized among our peers,” said Karen Maki, director, Distance and Continuing Education & College Partnerships for Trent University. “This success speaks to the wonderfully talented creative writers we have in our community who supported this program as students, instructors and mentors.”

The CAUCE award recognizes the best continuing education program that draws on local resources and is primarily aimed at a local/regional audience. CAUCE judges noted in their final decision that Trent’s Creative Writing program was “a significant program that includes mentorship as a very innovative aspect.”

The Trent Continuing Education Certificate in Creative Writing is designed for writers who want more - more practice, more feedback, more workshopping, more skills and more opportunities to write and publish. Launched in the fall of 2005, the program offers opportunities for both beginning writers and published authors to grow through a focus on small group courses, and to engage with leading edge curriculum led by highly skilled instructors.
