$60,000 Raised at 15th Annual President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament in Support of Trent Excalibur Green and White Scholarships
Annual fundraiser helps grow the Trent Excalibur varsity athlete Green & White scholarship program
In partnership with title sponsor Ameresco Canada, golfers, sponsors and varsity student-athletes raised $60,000 in support of the Trent Excalibur Green & White first-year athletics scholarships at the 15th annual President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament held June 20 at Peterborough Golf & Country Club.
“Trent Athletics is proud to be partnered with Ameresco, a global and multinational corporation that is committed to expanding opportunities for varsity student-athletes. Once again we cannot thank Ameresco enough for the support they provide to the President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament as the title sponsor,” said Deborah Bright-Brundle, director, Athletics & Recreation for Trent University. “Their support is integral to the continued growth of Trent Athletics and directly impacts the lives of many varsity student-athletes through the Green and White Scholarship Fund.”
Emceeing the day was Excalibur rowing varsity student-athlete Mr. Evan Kopsala, who is completing his Masters Degree in Molecular Genetics, and the keynote guest speaker for the evening was Ms. Leah Michel, a third year Psychology student and a captain of the women’s varsity Lacrosse team that won the Bronze Medal at the 2018/19 OUA Lacrosse Championships.
Ms. Michel thanked all attendees and sponsors for their support of student-athletes and athletics programs at Trent, saying “It makes a world of a difference. With your support, we as student-athletes hope to continue to make this community and University proud.”
The 2019 Winning Foursome title went to the team from tournament sponsors Charlie Burke, Ed Townsley, Mark Murdoch, and Brian Febel. Other winners, included Closest-to-the-Pin: John Casserly & Debra Cooper Burger and Longest Drive winners’ Mike Benelopoulos & Cynthia Fletcher.
Congratulations and thanks go out to all who participated, with special appreciation going to the many generous sponsors who helped make this year’s event such a success.
