Frost Week Welcomes Trent Durham Students to Campus
Trent University Durham GTA kicked off semester with series of Frost Week events
The Trent Durham Student Association (TDSA) hosted a number of events during Frost Week to welcome new, and returning, students to campus for the start of a new semester.
“It’s a way to say ‘we missed you, have some fun’ before the grind of the semester starts,” explained Katie Cassin, Trent Durham Student Association vice-president of Campus Life.
The first day of classes kicked off on Monday, January 8 with a hot chocolate bar in the front atrium. Three different options for your hot chocolate were available, and your beverage could be topped with whipped cream, chocolates, cookies, and candies. It was the perfect way to warm up on a snowy day.
On Tuesday the TDSA set up a table in the library hallway to do a marathon 12 hours of giveaways. Students were welcome to pick up free Trent swag, gift cards, and chocolate bars throughout the day.
Mid-week featured an evening of bowling at Leisure Lanes. About 20 students came out for a casual competition.
“It was a great way to unwind before evening classes began,” said Cassin.
Thursday offered students a chance to build their own grilled cheese or sample a cup of soup. A variety of gourmet options allowed students to enjoy a personalized grilled cheese experience.
The Frost Week events wrapped up on Friday with a very successful succulent planting event that brought a hint of green to a wintery day.
Frost Week was a great way to start the new semester and introduce students to the fun of campus events. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about how they can participate by checking out Get Involved Week happening the week of January 15-19.
