Students Discover All the Ways to Get Involved at Trent

The Trent Central Student Association hosts its first Clubs and Groups Day of the year

From coding to snowboarding, dancing to card games, students at Trent University recently discovered all the different student-led activities and groups they can take part in at Clubs and Groups Day hosted by the Trent Central Student Association (TCSA) on September 13.

Held twice a year, the event provides students the chance to explore all the different groups that have formed on campus, talk to current members of those groups and sign up for the ones that are of interest to them.

“It’s always great to see all the interesting groups on campus, there are a lot of opportunities for students to get involved with something that is really geared to them,” says Heather Litster, clubs and groups coordinator with the TCSA. “Joining a club or group can give you a sense of community, extra experience for a future job, and new friends at Trent.”

For Henry Ecclestone, third-year Philosophy student at Trent, joining the Fencing Club in his first-year was one of the best decisions he made to help him connect to life on campus.

“Joining a club puts you in connection with students from all different years of study, and really helps you feel welcome,” says Mr. Ecclestone.

First-year Business student Sam Bowman attended the event looking for that opportunity to not only get involved on campus, but also meet new people.

“It means a lot that there are so many opportunities to take advantage of here at Trent,” said Mr. Bowman. “It’s been great finding out more about all the groups.”
