FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Over 100 students to graduate from Trent’s GTA campus in Durham
Monday, June 12, 2017
For the second year, Trent University Durham – GTA will host a dedicated convocation ceremony in the Durham region, celebrating the accomplishments of its newest class of graduates and, this year, honouring Bank of Canada governor Steven Poloz with an honorary degree.
“We’re happy to be hosting our own unique convocation ceremony for the second time here in the Durham region,” said Joe Muldoon, head of Trent University Durham – GTA. “Students from our Durham campus are proud of their distinct experience, which really emphasizes a very personal educational experience in unusually small class settings. This year’s graduands are anticipating the address by none other than the governor of the Bank of Canada.”
Trent’s president and vice-chancellor Dr. Leo Groarke and Trent chancellor Dr. Don Tapscott ‘66, will preside over convocation at the Durham ceremony, during which degrees will be granted in the following Trent University Durham programs, including: Business Administration, English Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Cultural Studies, Gender & Women’s Studies, and Information Systems. Postgraduate certificates in Human Resource Management and Marketing & Entrepreneurship will also be granted.
During the ceremony, the University will bestow an honorary degree upon Steven Poloz, governor of the Bank of Canada, following which Mr. Poloz will address the graduating class. Trent Durham’s ceremony will be the last of eight convocation ceremonies at Trent University. Seven ceremonies were held from June 6 to 9 at the Symons Campus in Peterborough. This year, across both campuses, Trent University will honour 1,792 members of the 2017 graduating class, a total of 103 students will graduate from Trent University Durham – GTA with a degree or certificate.
