Excalibur Rowers Excel at 2017 Indoor Nationals
Gold for Trevor Jones as rowers took to the ergs at National Indoor Rowing Championships
Rowers of all ages from across the country gathered this past weekend at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga to challenge themselves at the 34th Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships.
With a crowd that totaled well over 1,000 at an indoor event, the atmosphere is one to behold as spectators cheer on the competitors in their two kilometre races.
Following a fantastic 2016, a second-year Trent student, Trevor Jones finished with a personal best at 5:59 in the U23 Men’s event. The time was enough to earn him the gold and also the fastest time overall for the day.
“Trevor’s commitment to training, often putting in hours by himself is really paying off,” said coach, Carol Love.
Other Trent athletes performed well with Graham Peeters finishing fourth place with a time of 6:08, Dan Bullock reaching a personal best, and Mark Moyer placing in the top half of the field.
