An Engagement Story: Students Find Love at Trent University
Trent graduate proposes on the Faryon Bridge – and she says yes!
International student Alex Yuan ‘11 found more than a great education during his time at Trent University; he found love. Proposing on the Faryon Bridge to his girlfriend, Jen Boon ‘11, right before the holidays, Mr. Yuan explained that the infamous bridge at the centre of Trent’s Peterborough campus was symbolic of their relationship.
“I chose to propose on the bridge because it holds a lot of great memories from our time as students here,” explained Mr. Yuan, an Economics graduate who is now working for TD Bank. “It also symbolizes how Trent connected us and how the University has a very special way of bringing people together.”
After meeting in their second year at Trent, Ms. Boon, an English graduate, and Mr. Yuan spent a lot of time enjoying hikes around campus in between classes, studying at Bata Library, and crossing the bridge over the Otonabee River in all different seasons.
“Over the four years we spent here, Trent became our second home,” says Mr. Yuan. As a place that made such an impact on their lives as students, the University was the perfect location to mark the start of their next chapter in life together.
