Celebrating Gold: Excalibur Women’s Lacrosse Presented with OUA Championship Banner
Trent’s first ever OUA gold medal in women’s sport recognized
It was a season for the history books and a championship game that will be remembered for years to come. A team in only its fourth-year of existence, faced off against a powerhouse that had won the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) gold for five straight years and took home gold. An accomplishment worthy of celebration. On Monday, October 31, the community did just.
Friends, family, and the Trent community came out to the Justin Chiu stadium to recognize and celebrate the Excalibur women’s lacrosse team, who brought home the OUA lacrosse championship. Following congratulatory remarks from Dr. Leo Groarke, president and vice-chancellor of Trent University, coaches and players took to the podium to share highlights of the season, and thank Trent, and their friends and family members for their support.
“These phenomenal female student-athletes are a force to be reckoned with on and off the field,” said Deborah Bright-Brundle, director of Athletics and Recreation at Trent University. “We are so very proud of their incredible accomplishments on the field this season, and we know that they will continue to be leaders in our communities.”
