Meet A Trent Student: Sarah Carthy, Business Administration
Between working on campus, going on exchange, and chatting with some of Trent University’s notable alumni, Business Administration student, Sarah Carthy has taken advantage of the many opportunities that have presented themselves since she began her studies at Trent in 2013.
Raised in Peterborough, Ms. Carthy chose to study close to home at a leading Canadian university.
Living off-campus never stopped Ms. Carthy from getting involved. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Over her three years at Trent so far, she has worked for Conference and Hospitality Services, at Mackenzie House on the student data team, acted as the director of communications for the Trent Business Student Association, and spent a year abroad at Nottingham Trent University. This summer, Ms. Carthy is currently working as a communications assistant in the Alumni Affairs department.
“It has been really great working here. I helped set up the Trent Voices podcast interviews and was emailing with Linwood Barclay, Yann Martel, Leah McLaren, and Mark Quattrocchi. It was so cool!”
Ms. Carthy says that it was at first tough being an off-campus student, but joining your program’s student association, finding a job through the student job board, and attending your college’s events makes all the difference.
“If I had not started getting involved, I would have stayed that first semester first year student where I went to classes and then booked it off campus. I’m really glad that I did get involved because it completely changed my experience.”
