Meet a Trent Student: Kindersley Brucker, International Development Studies
During her six months in Ecuador, third-year International Development Studies student, Kindersley Brucker was able to take her education beyond the classroom and into the field.
Ms. Brucker studied at Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar in Ecuador’s capital city of Quito for the first three months of her abroad experience. She later travelled to the rural Sierra region to complete a community development placement.
While abroad, Ms. Brucker had the opportunity to learn Spanish, visit the Galapagos Islands, the Ecuadorian coast, the Sierra mountains, and the Amazon.
“The most rewarding part of my experience was my placement at the Unidad Educativa del Milenio Intercultural Bilingüe Chibuleo. I loved working with children and learning more about the Kichwa culture.”
Teaching and studying abroad has provided Ms. Brucker with hands on experience, and presented new opportunities for the future. “My abroad experience helped me realize my passion for education, and has inspired me to become a teacher,” she says.
