Trent University Ranked Among Top 1,000 Universities in the World
World University Rankings places Trent within top 3.6 % of all universities worldwide; #29 nationally in Canada
Trent University is climbing the ranks of the world’s top universities, according to the recently released Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) 2016 list of the world’s top 1,000 universities, which lists Trent at number 29 nationally, up from number 31 last year, and number 884 overall worldwide, up from last year’s 910 place ranking.
“To rank in the top four per cent of universities in the world is an impressive achievement for a small university like Trent. We believe the ranking in this year’s Center for World University Rankings demonstrates the extent to which our interactive learning atmosphere and strong focus on research and innovation is recognized and valued worldwide,” said Dr. Leo Groarke, president and vice-chancellor of Trent University. “To rank so well both nationally and internationally is a testament to the exceptional learning and research environment Trent provides.”
The new CWUR ranking caps off a year in which Trent University ranked highly in many prestigious independent rankings and surveys. In the 2016 Maclean’s University Report, Trent was named Ontario’s number one undergraduate university for the fifth year in a row, and number two in all of Canada. Also in Maclean’s, Trent also earned the top spot in all of Canada for scholarships and bursaries. Consistently punching above its weight in research excellence, Trent also ranked as the number three undergraduate research university in Canada, according to Re$earch Infosource’s Research Universities of the Year 2016. Trent students also rank the University highly in national student satisfaction surveys, and the unparalleled Trent experience leads graduates to success in today’s competitive job market, with 94 per cent of graduates securing jobs just two years after graduation and 90 per cent in jobs just six months after graduation.
The CWUR is the only global university ranking measuring the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members and the quality of their research, without relying on surveys and university data submissions. CWUR uses eight indicators to rank the world's top 1,000 universities including: quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, publications, influence, citations, broad impact and patents. Out of Canada’s 98 universities, only 32 made the list, including Trent.
