Learn Here, Work Here: Trent Durham Students Benefit from Employment Increase in Oshawa
City of Oshawa Ranked First in Canada for Employment
Job prospects are often top of mind for most students today, but for those attending Trent University Durham, joining the workforce in Oshawa just became less daunting, as the thriving city was ranked first for employment in Canada by the BMO Regional Labour Market Report Card.
“After graduation, I found full-time employment in Oshawa at a not-for-profit organization,” remarked Roderic Southwell, a recent Trent University Durham graduate and now a full-time researcher with the Durham Workforce Authority. “I felt confident thanks to the skills and knowledge I gained from the Psychology and Business courses at Trent and I developed strong social skills from participating in co-curricular activities on campus. My job also allows me to have a healthy work/life balance as Oshawa is a vibrant community that is full of opportunity and great people.”
At Trent, an impressive 90% of graduates are employed six months after graduation and 94% of grads are employed after two years. Further, 86% of alumni who are employed full-time, two years after graduation, consider their work directly related to the skills they developed at the University.
