Trent/Fleming School of Nursing Welcomes International Visitors
Chinese guests welcomed to campus to learn from nursing faculty members
The Trent/Fleming School of Nursing’s (TFSON) expertise was on display recently as the School hosted visitors from China at the Symons Campus. Representatives from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and the Dongzhimen Hospital came to learn all about the TFSON’s expertise as an Academic Best Practice Spotlight organization.
“Representatives from both organizations in China met with us to talk about our candidacy, the specific guidelines we have implemented through our curriculum, and what the implementation processes entailed,” explained Dr. Kirsten Woodend, dean of the program. “We also spoke about our work in relation to uptake and measurement of best practice guidelines used by faculty and students.”
Professor Woodend shared that the organizations would remain in contact in the future based on their many shared interests.Both the university and the hospital visiting, integrate Western and traditional Chinese medicine which Prof. Woodend explained was of interest to the TFSON as they're developing an undergraduate course and are planning a master’s degree in traditional Chinese medicine with a focus on acupuncture.
