Community Gathers to Hear Updates on Trent Lands Plan Developments
Trent and the City Moving Forward with Development Plans
Members of the Trent and Peterborough communities came together on February 23 to hear updates and ask questions about the developments underway on Trent’s endowment lands, on the University’s East Bank.
“Trent University has a bold vision for developing the surrounding lands and I appreciate the manner in which Trent consulted the community and actively listened to the concerns that were being expressed,” said Jacob Rodenburg, an attendee at the information session. “My sincere wish is that Trent use these developments as an opportunity to showcase to our community and to the rest of the world what is possible in sustainable and innovative design, and to demonstrate what good stewardship can look like.”
Presentations by the City of Peterborough’s Mary Gallop and Malcolm Hunt, as well as Dr. Neil Emery, vice-president of Research & Innovation at Trent University, described the nearly-completed sports fields, plans for the new arena, and laid out the shared vision for the Trent University Research & Innovation Park.
“Trent is committed to being a catalyst for economic, social and recreational development in our community, and the development of the endowment lands is a key way to advance this goal,” said Julie Davis, vice-president, External Relations & Advancement at Trent University. “We want to be a good neighbor, and provide the community with transparent, timely information about developments, to properly consider their ideas and concerns.”
