Meet a Trent Student: Leah Gibson, English Literature
“It took a lot of planning but I’m really happy I went on exchange. I’ve met so many great friends, and learned and experienced so many things. If your heart is telling you to do it, I think you should try. You definitely will not regret it.”
This is what Leah Gibson, an English Literature student at Trent University has to say to other students considering adding a study abroad experience to their degree. Ms. Gibson is currently on a year-long exchange at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England. Ms. Gibson is taking classes in English Literature and explains that her studies abroad have allowed her to put the material taught in class and from her readings into perspective.
“Trent is an amazing school, but what makes it even more amazing is that it provides you with the opportunity to expand your education at universities worldwide,” she says.
The idea of studying abroad and travelling to a foreign country can be daunting for many students. Ms. Gibson said that this was something she was nervous about at first but soon found that being from another country has provided many opportunities for her. “It’s been amazing to find how friendly people are and willing to take you around because you aren't from their country,” she says.
