Taking Learning Online: Trent University Joins eCampus Ontario with 82 Online Courses
Geography, Indigenous Studies and Forensic Science: Trent offers diverse range of programs online
Finding and registering for one of Trent University’s unique online courses is now easier than ever before, thanks to eCampus Ontario, a new online portal to help students find and choose from Trent’s 82 online course offerings and over 13,000 courses province wide.
“At Trent we are excited about having our innovative online courses profiled on the new eCampus Ontario portal,” said Jackie Muldoon, interim provost and vice-president academic at Trent University. “Online courses are a great, flexible learning option for our students and having them profiled on eCampus means online learners from across the province will be able to find out more and register for these courses at Trent.”
Currently, Trent University offers over 82 online courses across a diverse range of programs, including Biology, Business Administration, Computing & Information Systems, Economics, Forensic Science, Gender & Women's Studies, Geography, History, Indigenous Studies, Nursing, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology, all of which are profiled on the new eCampus portal. Trent’s online courses are taught by the professors who also teach and create the in-class version of the course, making them unique across the sector.
“We are proud of our diverse and growing online course offerings at Trent,” said Dr. Elaine Scharfe, interim vice-provost, dean of Graduate Studies, who oversees online learning at the University. “As the demand for online courses grows, Trent will strive to meet that demand with excellent online courses across our many disciplines and academic programs.”
Designed to help students find a range of online courses from colleges and universities and discover quickly which institutions will recognize the credit, eCampus provides:

- Increased mobility through online courses that are recognized across multiple institutions.
“Trent’s online courses offer the flexibility I like, and the combination of taking online and in-person classes fits my busy schedule,” said Tyler Udall, third year Business Administration and Information Systems student at Trent. “The simplicity of having everything you need to complete a course in front of you on a screen is really convenient.”
Trent’s robust participation in eCampus Ontario reflects the institutions highly flexible learning environment and desire to be one of the most transfer-friendly university’s in Ontario.
