Trent University has released its new 2015 Report to the Community, showcasing some of the many bonds between Trent and the Peterborough area, and the contributions of faculty, staff, students, alumni and retirees to the community.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural report, the 2015 edition shares key information about Trent’s economic impact in the region, faculty research underway locally, and successful Trent entrepreneurs, including Andressa Lacerda ‘08 of Noble Purification Inc., and Mike Watt ‘93 of Flavour/Plush/SOS in Peterborough’s downtown.

Over the past year, Trent hosted more than 230 lectures, varsity games, film screenings and discussions, and welcomed 5,000 people to the University and to Peterborough through conferences and events. More than 80 per cent of Trent students at the Symons Campus were attracted to Peterborough from outside the area, including 584 international students. Trent also generates 7.7 per cent of the local GDP.

“Trent is an interactive university. Not only through our interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning, but also in the way we engage with and support the local community,” said Julie Davis, vice president, External Relations & Advancement. “At Trent, we strive to support the economic development of the region, to enhance recreation and the environment, and enrich the culture and heritage of the Peterborough region. For more than 50 years, Trent and the Peterborough community have nurtured a deep and mutually beneficial relationship. The stories and profiles featured in the 2015 Report reflect just the tip of the iceberg of that partnership.”
