Top Five Stories For the Week of April 20

Every week exciting and new things are happening at Trent University. If you are too busy studying or working to catch up on all the news, don’t worry we have you covered.

Undergrad Student Leads Charge on Food Sustainability:

As a second-year student studying Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems and International Development Studies, Anisah Madden is leading the charge on groundbreaking food sustainability initiatives on Trent’s campus, which are also having an effect on the broader community.

Earth Day at Trent:

In honour of Earth Day on April 22, Trent University, a leader in environmental stewardship since it’s inception in 1964, recognized and celebrated its history as a champion of environmental awareness and sustainability. Additionally, Trent’s department of indigenous Studies participated in a sunrise ceremony with members of the First Nations community to honour the day.

Trent University Durham celebrates first graduates of Pathways Program

Creating their own journeys of academic success, students of the Trent University Durham Pathways Program get a unique opportunity to gain theoretical and practical skills at both the university and college level. As the first cohort of the Business Transfer Program prepares to graduate this June, Trent University Durham sees growing success of this program ahead.

Trent Students Published in Prestigious Journal:

Seventeen undergraduate and graduate students and two post-doctoral fellows at Trent University recently published a paper on the peer-review process in the prestigious journal Biological Reviews.

Doors Open Peterborough:

Try your hand at bannock making in the Trent tipi, take a spring flowers tour hosted by the Peterborough Field Naturalists in the Lady Eaton Drumlin or participate in a discussion on the legacy of Ron Thom, all offered this year as part of Doors Open Peterborough, hosted at Trent University as part of the University's 50th anniversary celebrations.

A variety of Trent buildings will be featured on both the east and west banks of the Symons campus to explore on Saturday May 2, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
